is the county seat of Wood
County. It is located at the confluence of the Ohio and Little Kanawha Rivers. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 33,099. Parkersburg is the third largest city in West Virginia, behind Charleston and Huntington and is also the largest by population of three principal cities of and included in the Parkersburg-Marietta-Vienna, West Virginia-Ohio (part) Metropolitan Statistical Area.
