census. It is the county seat of Clinton
County. Along with DeWitt, Iowa, it was
named in honor of the seventh Governor of
New York State, DeWitt Clinton. Clinton is
the center of a small metro area, including
Camanche, Iowa; Fulton, Illinois; and the
unincorporated area of East Clinton,
Illinois.
